Differences in layouts
The main difference in layouts between the single and double zero roulette wheels, also known as American and European roulette is that the double zero version of the game includes an extra number that being the 00.

The single zero or European roulette layout
The payouts for all the bets straight ups, splits, corners, streets and six lines remains the same the only difference in the payouts is the additional betting spot for the double zero and a new bet that becomes available, that usually covers the 0,1,2,3 and pays the same as a corner 8-1 on European versions of the game now includes a fifth number so it now looks like this 0,00,1,2,3 in the American version of the game. This bet is known as a basket bet or the first five and pays 6-1.
Difference in odds
The house holds an extra edge in US casinos over its gamblers as the house edge on double zero roulette is a massive 5.26% compared to that of single zero roulette in which casinos only enjoy a 2.70% advantage over it's roulette players certainly a big difference.
